The Welwyn Festival Group was formed in 1998 to continue the organisation of the Welwyn Festival Week, started in 1974 by the Round Table. It is a non-profit making group and any surplus funds that are not required to be carried forward are donated in ways that can benefit the inhabitants of Welwyn. Examples are the cost of one of the Christmas lights was provided by the group so that villagers can enjoy it, new wheels for the piano and part of the cost of new lights at the Civic Centre.
Tony Almond was responsible for setting up the WFG and Andy Trotter is now chairman of the committee of volunteers. Many of the committee members are drafted from other voluntary committees within the Welwyn area, such as Danesbury, the Guides, St.Mary’s school PTFA and the Welwyn Wailers.
If you would like to discuss any aspect of the Welwyn Festival Week or the work of its committee members, please contact a member of the committee or send an email to committee@welwynfestival.org.uk
